Sheep worrying

Two men have been charged after sheep were attacked by dogs in Canterbury in January this year.


John Arlott (41) of Pine Tree Avenue, Canterbury, is charged with allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place and owning a dog that has worried livestock between 9 and 10 January on land at the junction of Downs Road and St Stephens Road.


Robert McLean (45) of Badgers Close, Blean, is charged with allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place and owning a dog that has worried livestock between 14 and 15 January on land at the junction of Downs Road and St Stephens Road.


Both men were  charged yesterday (Sunday 22 March 2009) and are due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury on 1 April 2009.


Two rams and 18 ewes died or had to be destroyed following the two incidents.
